Last Disciple

A god game set in a Roman world that already fell once. You are the last disciple of a god who went quiet, and his hand answers to you. Build a settlement on the ground with your own two hands, then rise above it and rule.

Introduction

Last Disciple is a single player god game for PC, built in Unreal Engine 5. You play at two scales. On the ground you are the Disciple, a person with a pack and a set of tools, walking roads you laid yourself. Above the ground you are the Hand: an open palm that reaches down out of the sky to shape the land, lift a follower out of the mud, or put a boulder through a wall.

Your settlement is made of individual people, not a population number. Each villager has a name, a job, a house, a mood and a memory. They fell timber, quarry stone, work the fields and haul it all to the storehouse, then go home when the light goes. When raiders come, the same people take up shields and stand in the line.

The Disciple

Third person, on foot. You gather, craft and build with your own hands, and the world reacts to you at that scale. Villagers greet you, animals scatter, weather rolls in over the hills and the seasons turn. Walking the streets you built is the only way to see them the way your people do.

The Hand

Pull back and the camera climbs until the Hand is all that is left of you. Grab a villager and carry them where they are needed. Throw a log to a build site or a rock at a raider. Stroke the ground, or slap it. Pour water onto a dying field. The land keeps a record of what you do with it.

The Creature

A creature lives in your settlement and watches you. It cannot be given a job. It picks up habits from what it sees you do: feed the village and it learns to feed, burn and it learns to burn. It grows as the years pass, and in war it is the one thing on the field you can point at an enemy.

The Legions

When you need more than farmers with sticks, you muster. Companies form up in ranks around a standard, march in step and hold the line. Fighting comes in surges and lulls rather than a grind, and when a man falls the one behind him steps into the gap so the ranks stay closed. Walls are drawn by hand across the ground, towers rise where the line turns, and a garrison mans the walk.

The Corruption

Your alignment has a face, and it shows in the ground and in the creature. Cruelty cracks the earth and lets something hotter through. Mercy keeps the land green. Neither is the right answer, and your people remember both.
